The Adam forward bend test and scoliosis screening can help find clues such as shoulder-back asymmetry, a rib hump, or trunk rotation, but a screening result cannot directly equal “a confirmed scoliosis,” and even less can it replace a standing full-spine X-ray and the doctor's Cobb angle measurement. The correct approach is to treat screening as an early-detection entry point, with further evaluation by a professional after an abnormality is found, rather than scaring yourself repeatedly with home self-checks or judging severity on your own.

This page is a plain-words guide to a published paper — for health education and doctor–patient communication only, not a diagnosis or treatment advice. If you think you might have scoliosis, see an orthopedic or spine specialist.
